Jim Lyttle, Ph.D.

Jim Lyttle, Ph.D., is a humor researcher and an active member of the International Society for Humor Studies (ISHS). He is also an assistant professor of organizational behavior in the School of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University.
Jim is from Canada, where his doctoral dissertation at York University assessed the effectiveness of using Dilbert humor in business ethics training. He gives presentations and conference papers on the effective and responsible use of humor for persuasion in various contexts such as school, counseling, advertising, and workplace training. He also holds an M.B.A. from the Richard Ivey School at the University of Western Ontario and a bachelors degree in philosophy.
He operates Single Breath Re-Vocation Counseling, helping mid-career and re-entering adults assess future directions, and occasionally he does stand-up at New York comedy clubs.
