GENERAL COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is an introductory level course to the rapidly developing field of clinical neuropsychology, the study of brain-behavior relationships and their effect on physiological processes. Testing batteries and neuropsychological evaluations using testing batteries, assessing people’s intellectual functioning, orientation, memorization, vision, language and attention. This important field of study has historical foundations in anatomy, medicine, neurology, physiology and psychology. The course introduces the field of clinical neuropsychology, provides a historical background and covers the areas of neuropsychological assessment, tests and screening. Additionally, it provides an introductory guide to the brain and to neuropsychological consultation.

The course is comprised of eight articles. The first article, Clinical Neuropsychology 101 (An Introduction), provides an overview of the field, neurological screenings and exams;
the second, Capsule Description of the Clinical Neuropsychological Assessment, is a brief description of the field and the purpose for assessment;
the third, Neuropsychological Screening for Brain Dysfunction, discusses the difference between screenings and evaluations;
the fourth, What Do Neuropsychological Tests Measure?, discusses brain functions that can be analyzed during an examination;
the fifth, Tests Commonly Used In a Neuropsychological Examination, is a list of commonly used neuropsychological examinations;
the sixth, An Introductory Guide To The Process Of Neuropsychology Consultation, is an in-depth look at neurological screenings, consultations and exams; the seventh, Neuropsychology Timeline, provides a historical background for the field of neuropsychology and explains its roots in medicine; and the last one, An Educator’s Guide to the Brain, gives a detailed look at the workings of the brain, brain development and the effects of traumatic brain damage.
